FAQs

Why auctions?

There are many reasons to do an auction, but the most common one revolves around how quickly assets can be liquidated. In the instance of an estate auction or personal property auction, the turnaround time from start to finish could be as soon as four to six weeks from the first meeting to presenting the seller with a check.

Auctions are also an excellent way to present items before interested groups to maximize bid prices. As your auctioneer, we want to get the most money for your items and will strive to do so!

I have a family member who passed away and left me in charge of the estate. Now what?

If you are named the personal representative in the estate, give us a call! We would love to talk to you about liquidating personal property through on-site live auctions and online auctions.

Note: We do not do any quotes over the phone or through email. We adamantly require an onsite visit for estate and personal property auctions.

I have never been to an auction. How does it work?

Auctions are so much fun! If you have never been to a live auction, I highly recommend attending one! Do not be intimidated by the fast paced environment. The speed and liveliness is one of the major perks! Nowadays, timed online auctions are the norm, so keep that in mind as well.

  1. Register - you will need to register as a bidder with the auction company (onsite) or through the bid platform (we use Proxibid). Please keep in mind terms and conditions for the sale - what payment is accepted? Is there a buyer’s premium? How much is the sales tax? If it is an online auction, where is the pickup location and times available for pickup?

  2. Browse the catalog - if you are onsite, you will be able to see the items in person. Online catalogs give a wealth of information about the products and include pictures.

  3. Ask questions - If there is an item you are particularly interested in and have questions about, make sure to ask them BEFORE the item is placed on the auction block for sale.

  4. Bid and have fun! Online bidding is so easy. One (or two) clicks of the mouse and your bid will be accepted. In a live auction scenario, make sure to wave your hand or bid card to let the auctioneer know that you are bidding. You can also enlist the help of the auction staff and bid assistants to place your bids.

  5. You WON! Now what? - If onsite, visit the cashier with your buyer number and they will print your invoice. If online, complete the payment information that is emailed to you at the close of the auction.

We want your auction experience to be a good one. Let us know if we can help in any way!
